Ancient bones. A modern murder. A deadly secret buried deep in the desert.
In the remote Arizona desert, Archaeologist Aideen Connor signs on as dig director hoping for a shot at peace after witnessing her husband’s violent death. But first she excavates a “bone hash,” human bones showing evidence of prehistoric cannibalism. Then a woman is brutally murdered on the nearby Hopi Reservation. Clues point to a connection between the murder and the bone hash, and the good relationship with local Native Americans Aideen has worked hard to establish begins to shatter. When the bones are stolen, her boss blames Aideen, and local descendants accuse her of disrespecting their ancestors. Then the violent threats begin—an animal is killed and eviscerated under her residential trailer. A photo of her dead husband is stolen from her bedroom and left in its blood. With only her rescue dog, Dakota for companionship, Aideen must discover the secret her dig is hiding or risk losing her life.
